Dhan Dhan Shri Nabh Kanwal Raja Sahib Ji (of Mazara) was a great soul, who was born in 1862 AD to father Mangal Das and mother Sahib Devi Ji in Ballowal (Nawanshahr). His main shrine is Gurdwara Nabh Kanwal (Nau Abad) Mazara Raja Sahib (District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar), where the annual anniversary is celebrated every year on the occasion of Bhadro Maasiya.
History of Shri Nabh Kanwal Raja Sahib Ji (Mazara):
Early Life: His ancestral village was Mannanhana (Hoshiarpur), but he was born in his maternal village Ballowal. From a young age, he devoted himself to the devotion of the Supreme Being.
Meditation and Mazara Location: Raja Sahib Ji spent a long time in the village of Mazara in severe meditation and penance. This place is known as Nau-Abad, which was a high and peaceful mound.
Significance of the Name Nabh Kanwal: He is called ‘Nabh Kanwal’ because his spirituality was pure and exalted like the lotus flower.
Teachings: He conveyed the message of love, devotion, selfless service, and service to humanity. He inspired following the teachings of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sikh principles.
